The UCF Knights defeated the Colorado Buffaloes on the court in Additional Financial Arena in a suspenseful 75-74 finish.
With just 3:25 left in the game, both teams were tied at 71 a piece. Seconds later Colorado makes a jumper, and then a free throw, taking the lead by 3. However with some crucial fouls on Colorado, UCF was able to make their free throws.
With just under 30 seconds left and Colorado taking a time out, the game would come down to this play. The Knights defended well, but gave Colorado the ball back due to a throw in violation. With just seconds left on the game clock, UCF was able to prevent a game winning basket, securing a 75-74 victory.
While this is a good victory for the Knights, they definitely have areas to improve in. With 22 out of 56 field goals made, the Knights only made 39.6% of them, being unable to gain points that could’ve made this an easier win.
The Knights are now 2-1 in Big 12 Conference Play and 11-3 overall. Their next 10 days are crucial, as they play both Arizona and Arizona State away, and then come back to Addition Financial Arena to play currently ranked Houston in their annual Space Game.
