UCF lost its first conference game of the season against the Kansas State Wildcats with the final score of 34-20. This marks Scott Frost’s first loss as UCF head coach since 2016, which was against Arkansas State.

What started as a defensively dominant UCF showcase, with an interception and forcing a turnover on downs in the first quarter, the momentum shifted in favor of Kansas State for the remainder of the game.

In the second quarter, Tayven Jackson was seen entering the blue tent, favoring his left arm. Jacurri Brown entered the game, and the Knights’ offense was scrambling to get back in the game after falling to a 10-point deficit.

Frost’s squad was never able to build a lead, and at one point, they were down by 21 points. The Knights showed some poise as they scored 10 unanswered points after Jackson returned to the game; however, it was not enough to keep them in the game.

After a turnover on downs, followed by an interception by K-State’s defense, the Wildcats were in the driver’s seat and ran the clock out to end the game. Final score was 34-20. Wildcats improve to 2-3, and the Knights fall to 3-1.

UCF will look to bounce back from Saturday’s loss when they return home to the Acrisure Bounce House and face off against the Kansas Jayhawks on Saturday, October 3rd at 7:30 pm.
