UCF Senior lecturer Jim Clark, passed away at the age of 78. Clark was a historian, lecturer, and big into journalism, working for several Florida publications.

Clark grew up in Maryland getting his degree in 1975, before coming down to Orlando to work for the Orlando Sentinel. During his time there, Clark had several positions to help keep the Sentinel running.

In 1986, he joined UCF’s history department, where he taught American History to students. Clark’s students thought fondly of him. Students who took his course stated on Rate My Professors how he was a comedian, engaging, and made learning about the subject fun.

Clark also worked with News 6 serving as an expert on Florida political matters. When not on air, he brought good energy, cracking jokes and building strong relations with those around him.

Florida fascinated Clark. He wrote books covering parts of Floridian history, discussing the hidden parts of it and talking about the impact US Presidents had on the state and vice vera. For those who sought after thrills, he wrote “Lost Attractions of Florida” touching on some lost Florida attractions.

James Clark was an outstanding journalist, professor, father, and overall an outstanding person. Our hearts and thoughts go out to his family and friends.
