The Osceola Magic faced the Raptors 905 on January 26 and 28 at Osceola Heritage Park. They swept the series, winning both games with the scores of 112-109 and 118-109, respectively.
Game 1 – January 26th, 2025
Osceola opened the first quarter in a shootout with the Raptors, with both teams drilling a myriad of baskets. The 905 would have the upper hand going into the second quarter, as the score would be 33-30.
After the second quarter started, it appeared that the Raptors would take all the momentum on both sides of the ball. They held the Magic to 23 points and would go into halftime with a 13-point lead.
Returning from halftime, the 905 continued to build on their lead throughout the third quarter. However, after an Osceola rally, they would head into the fourth quarter down by three.
An early run by the Raptors would give them a game-high 18-point lead, and Osceola had a lot of work to do for the rest of the quarter, as they slowly chipped away at the 905’s lead, and with 52 seconds on the clock, it was a one-point game once again.
The clock continued to tick down, and the Magic were running out of time and looking for a miracle. Javonte Smart would become a hero as he would drain a three-pointer and would get fouled to give Osceola the lead. The extra free throw was made, and the Magic got the win.
Osceola’s Lester Quinones led both teams in scoring with 25 points; he also recorded five assists and six rebounds. Quincy Gerrier led the Raptors’ scoresheet with 24 points off the bench.
Game 2 – January 28th, 2025
This game was a smooth breeze for the Magic as they led for the entire game, and at one point had a 16-point lead. The 905 would apply some pressure late into the fourth, but Osceola’s defense would hold strong to win the game.
Leading both teams in scoring was the Magic’s Alex Morales, who had a career-high 30-point performance. For the Raptors, it was Alijah Martin who led in scoring with 21 points.
The 905’s David Roddy and Julian Reese would both get a double-double. Roddy tallied 16 points and 11 rebounds, and Reese recorded 10 points and 12 rebounds.
The Magic are now 11-3 with sole possession of the number one seed in the East. Up next, they’ll stay at Osceola Heritage Park and face the Westchester Knicks on January 29th for Dominican Heritage Night.
