Following the shutdown of LibTech and other library services yesterday, Knight News obtained a statement from UCF Libraries regarding these changes. The statement is as follows:

“UCF Libraries is evolving to better support the way today’s students and faculty learn, conduct research, and engage with academic resources. Students and faculty will continue to have access to study spaces, research assistance, course materials, collections, digital scholarship technology, and other services that support teaching, learning, and academic success.

These operational changes followed a comprehensive review of library usage, academic priorities, and available resources to ensure limited resources are focused on the services that provide the greatest impact for students, faculty, and researchers. The changes reflect an ongoing commitment to modernize library services while preserving the resources most essential to the university’s teaching and research mission.

As the needs of our university community continue to evolve, UCF Libraries will continue exploring sustainable approaches that expand access to technology, strengthen academic support, and enhance the student experience.”

Knight News continues to investigate on the matter.
