UCF gets a big win against the TCU Horned Frogs, winning 21-13. The Knights move to 3-1 on the season and start 1-0 in conference play. Opening the game, the Knights knew that it was going to be a battle from start to finish with TCU favored to win by 3.5 points by Yahoo Sports.
TCU’s opening drive ended early after a forced fumble, leading to a UCF possession and touchdown run by Taevion Swint to begin the 1st quarter 7-0. The Horned Frogs struck back quickly with a seven play drive, finished off by a 43 yard pass that would tie the score 7 a piece. Keyone Jenkins would fumble the ball back to TCU but UCF’s defense held strong. The quarter would end with both teams trading punts.
With a slow start to the second quarter the Horned Frogs would be first on the board with a field goal. The Knights responded with a touchdown pass from Keyone Jenkins to Caden Piening, wrapping up the first half 14-10 UCF. The first half would wrap up letting everyone watching know that this was going to be a defensive battle of a game.
The third quarter would be highlighted by a singular score off the back of an almost 10 minute long drive by the Horned Frogs. A drive that consisted of 2 sacks by UCF, 2 back to back penalties, all to be capped off with a 45 yard field goal by Nate McCashland.
The 4th quarter would be a nail bitter, but the Knights extended their lead with a touchdown punched in by Landen Chambers. TCU would fail to respond missing a 50 yard field goal putting the Knights at midfield.
UCF could not find much momentum, being forced to punt; leaving the door open for the Horned Frogs to mount a comeback. A steady TCU drive nearing the endzone made the crowd nervous, but was eased by a game ending interception by Antione Jackson.
UCF beat TCU 21-13, a strong win to debut in Big 12 play. The Knights will look to prepare for a gauntlet of an away game, as they soon play the currently #25 ranked Houston Cougars, on Saturday October 3rd at noon.
