After getting in contact with River City Restaurant Group LLC, the company that franchises Noodles & Company, and the OCFD, Knight News has gathered all the details regarding the cause of the gas leak at Plaza on University on the evening of September 8th.
Knight News originally reported that a worker from Noodles & Company was pressure-washing in a confined hallway. After further investigation, we learned the worker operating the machine was from a third-party vendor hired by the property’s landlord — not a Noodles & Company or River City Restaurant Group employee.
Following our interactions with the company, Knight News contacted the OCFD and obtained the official incident report.
As stated in the official report, there were a total of six patients who were identified; four of whom were transported to local hospitals, while two refused treatment and/or transport.
Furthermore, as explained by the River City Restaurant Group, some Noodles & Company employees were among the few who were transported to the hospital as a result of the CO exposure.
