Tonight at 7 pm, the UCF men’s basketball team takes on the Maine Black Bears at home. The last time these two teams faced off was over twenty years ago at the University Hoops Classic, where the Knights were victorious. In total, the Black Bears and the Knights have gone into battle five times, with tonight’s game marking their sixth match-up. After last week’s narrow victory, the Knights intend to bring their best to the court, and hopefully, secure their fifth win over Maine, and their seventh win this season.
Fans are not only thrilled to see the team in action, but to donate to the One Kid Orlando Toy Drive! Hosted by former UCF football players Anthony Roberson Jr. and Jordan Johnson, the toy drive makes it possible for hundreds of children in need to receive Christmas presents each year. At tonight’s game, anyone who brings an unwrapped toy will be gifted a free UCF shirt and the joy of granting a child’s Christmas wish.
Founded in 2017, the One Kid Orlando Foundation, a nonprofit corporation, began as a way for Johnson and Roberson Jr. to give back to the Orlando community. This year marks the 6th time the pair will be hosting the event. Last year’s drive was a monumental success as more than 1500 toys, including 50 bicycles, were donated. Hundreds of kids from the Angel Tree Program and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Florida are overjoyed to open the gifts collected each year. The former players are grateful for the support they have received from the UCF fan base and the Orlando community over the years and hope for many more donations at tonight’s game!
