Opening night I sit in a room decorated for children birthday parties with 30 other Harry Potter fans anxiously awaiting the entrance into our theater. At Regal Cinemas, fans were sporting their house colors and sitting in lines to get prime spots for this anxiously awaited movie. With every theater in the house showing Harry Potter it’s hard to believe so many fans have been acquired since Rowling published the first book of Harry’s epic battle in 1998. As an influx of people bombarded theaters across the country last night, it’s not too hard to believe that part one of the final Harry Potter installment generated $24 million dollars .

Commercials say it’s a movie that “defines our generation,” and, sorry Twilight fans, this is the truth. To those of you who waited in bookstores at midnight to get your hands on each new book, you may be a bit skeptical about this movie. Having grown up with these books, it is a very important coming of age story that many fans hold dear to their heart. And, unlike many of the other Potter movies that left me upset and angry, I had only good feelings when I left the theater at 3A.M. this morning.

The movie covers most of the main points of Harry’s quest to destroy his foe, Lord Voldemort, and fans will (hopefully) leave amazed at the detail included in this movie. Granted, for those of you who read the books, nothing can be as good as your own imagination, but for a blockbuster hit, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Part 1)” is pretty close.

So ‘apparate’ to the nearest theater and get ready to be blown away. Then reread the book and prepare for part 2, coming out July 15, 2011, because this is it Harry Potter fans. After thirteen years it’s finally coming to a close. After thirteen years, “It all ends here.”
