If you aren’t aware already, this coming Saturday, Jan. 31, the city of Tampa will host one of the largest festivals in the United States.

Tampa will be pirate infested as the captain of the Gasparilla will lead his crew of over 700 pirates as they invade the streets and take over the city in honor of the mythical legendary pirate Jose Gaspa.

Nearly a half of a million spectators line along the sides of the historical Bayshore Blvd. to watch the Gasparilla Parade of the Pirates. This year, there will be over 50 participating krewes in the parade as well as over 100 food and beverage vendors throughout the streets of downtown.

Many local bars and entertainment companies are offering party buses as a way of transportation to and from the event on Saturday.

Dress up in your best pirate attire and bring your treasure chests full of gold coins and beads to celebrate the biggest pirate festival across the country since 1904.
