College students and burrito connoisseurs are going to have to face one of their biggest fears and live in a Chipotle-less world for one day.
Due to recent E.coli outbreaks, Chipotle will be closing all 2,000+ of its restaurants on Feb. 8 for a company-wide meeting, Yahoo News reported.
Luckily, the nightmare won’t last forever as USA Today stated that the shutdown will only be for a few hours.
“The closure is to give execs time to answer questions about the outbreak and to go over a new marketing plan to bring customers back,” E News reported. [pro_ad_display_adzone id=”79256″]
“Conducted via a live satellite feed, the session will feature Chipotle officials thanking the company’s roughly 60,000 staffers for their efforts to address recent food-bourne illness issues that arose among some of the company’s customers on the West Coast and in the Boston area,” USA Today reported.
Since the first E. coli incident within the popular food chain, 43 stores had to be shut down and 53 people were affected in nine different states, according to E News.
Chipotle executives said at an investor conference on Wednesday that they think the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will “call an end to the outbreak linked to the restaurant chain,” the Wall Street Journal stated.
The WSJ also reported that executives said no customers have reported sickness since last November and that Chipotle founder and co-Chief Executive Steve Ells said he’s confident the chain will win back its customers.
