First it was Farrah Fawcett. Then, Michael Jackson, followed by Billy Mays and legendary news anchor Walter Cronkite.

Today, we face another heartbreaking celebrity death — the Taco Bell dog is dead. She was 15.

The voice behind the “Yo quiero Taco Bell” catchphrase was male, but the Chihuahua, named Gidget, was all woman.

Her owner, Karin McElhattan, was devastated.

“It was very hard to lose her,” McElhatton told a national media outlet. “She was a great little dog.”

Taco Bell issued a statement which read, “We enjoyed working with Gidget and she will be missed by many. Our deepest sympathies go out to her owners and fans.”

Before the fatal stroke, Gidget lived the good life during the height of her career as the Taco Bell dog.

She enjoyed limo rides and flew first-class in planes. That is, when she wasn’t sitting on Taco Bell’s corporate jet on trips to Manhattan to open up the New York Stock Exchange.

Eventually, Hispanic groups became upset with the commercials and claimed they advanced negative stereotypes. The campaign was pulled, and Gidget went into semi-retirement.

In her final years Gidget enjoyed a daily sunbath.

“She lived like a queen,” her owner told ABC news.
