As many as a dozen squad cars from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office busted up to 9 people for underage drinking at Scoop after 1 a.m. early Sunday morning.
The detail of underage drinking patrol units then moved in on the plaza across from UCF, to bust 10 more alleged underage drinkers at Knight Library, FUBAR, and DEKO.

Some were reportedly taken to jail, others were given written arrest forms.

Since KnightNews.com broke this story as it happened in the early overnight hours of Sunday, it has received attention from local TV news stations.
WKMG Local 6 relied on KnightNews.com pictures of the busts during its morning news coverage of the bust. An article published on the station’s Web site says rumors that Scoop is being kicked out of its location are not true.
“Although Orange County court records show the Scoop bar on Alafaya Trail and Colonial Drive is in the process of eviction, a compromise between the bar and landlord will keep it open, according to Scoop owner Keith Mawardi,” the station reported. The compromise apparently involves having Scoop serve more and better food while it’s open, in addition to the alcohol.
The Scoop owner told Local 6 that if cops raided bars at Walt Disney World with the frequency and intensity with which they are raiding bars near UCF, there would also be underage drinking arrests there.
“We try our hardest, but if someone switches wristbands in the bathroom, it’s hard to stop,” Mawardi told Local 6. “We can’t control everybody. We have 12 security guards, we pay … for them, we can’t do anything more.”
WFTV Channel 9 also covered the bar raids after KnightNews.com broke the story. That station reported parents called to complain that teens from across the state come to Orlando because it is so easy to drink underage at these bars.
