JEFF JORDAN TO TRANSFER TO UCF; JOIN MEN’S BASKETBALL PROGRAM
Guard to attend UCF after three campaigns at Illinois.

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) – UCF men’s basketball head coach Donnie Jones announced Monday that guard Jeff Jordan has transferred to UCF from Illinois. The Chicago native will sit out the 2010-11 campaign due to NCAA transfer rules and will have one year of eligibility remaining with the Knights.

The 6-foot-1 Jordan will join his brother Marcus, who is entering his sophomore season, on the UCF roster.

Jeff Jordan played in 92 career games in three years at Illinois. In 2009-10, he appeared in 33 games, making two starts, and averaged 1.6 points, 1.7 assists and 1.3 rebounds per game.

“Jeff is a great young man and we look forward to him joining our basketball family,” Jones said. “Jeff has a high basketball IQ and played in one of the best leagues in the country in the Big Ten.”

This past season, Jordan averaged 13.8 minutes per game and helped the Fighting Illini reach the postseason NIT quarterfinals. One of his best performances during the year came in January when he dished out seven assists to go along with three steals versus Gonzaga.

Jordan arrived at Illinois in 2007 after a solid prep career at Loyola Academy. He averaged 15.0 points per game as a senior and earned Illinois Basketball Coaches Association All-State Second Team honors.

Jordan is one of three Division I transfers that Jones has welcomed to Orlando this summer, joining forward Josh Crittle of Oregon and center Tom Herzog, who will be eligible immediately after transferring from Michigan State. Jones has also added forward Dwight McCombs from Moraine Valley Community College in Illinois, guard Jarvis Davis of Virginia’s Hargrave Military Academy and guard Isaiah Sykes from Denby High School in Detroit, to the UCF roster.
