The National Weather Service reports that Sandy has strengthened into a hurricane with winds of 80 MPH moving North North East at 13 MPH.

A tropical storm watch has been issued for the East Coast of Florida from the Volusia/Brevard County Line to the ocean. This includes UCF’s Brevard Regional Campus.

Computer models currently keep Sandy off of Florida however, storm force winds and heavy rain can reach miles past the storm’s radius.

At this time, it does not appear that Central Florida is a threat to the storm.

We will continue to monitor the track of Sandy and keep you updated.
