In an effort to curtail what Health officials around the country are considering the worst flu outbreak in history, here in Central Florida, UCF is taking action by offering students free flu shots.

Students can visit the Knight Aide center located in Knights Plaza today, Friday, until 3 p.m. to receive a free flu shot.

A report issued by the Center for Disease Control earlier this week states that the entire nation is experiencing high levels of influenza-like-illness.

“While we can’t say for certain how severe this season will be, we can say that a lot of people are getting sick with influenza and we are getting reports of severe illness and hospitalizations,” Dr. Joe Bresee said, who is Chief of the Epidemiology and Prevention Branch in CDC’s Influenza Division.

Students will need their student I.D. to obtain the free shot.

UCF Health Services also says shots for students will remain free until the “free supply” runs out. After that, it will be $10 for students.

Appointment for the shot can also be made by calling 407-823-3850.
