A UCF student’s apartment window was shot at while she was in her apartment Saturday evening, according to the multiple tips sent to KnightNews.com, including one from the victim’s mother. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office has been contacted for an official confirmation of the incident as well as more details.

According to the victim’s Instagram, the incident occurred at the Lofts apartment complex.

Veronica Sanchez, the victim’s mother, reached out to KnightNews.com in an attempt to find the suspect.

“My daughter was shot at while she was in her apartment near UCF,” Sanchez told KnightNews.com. “She goes to school at UCF. The person missed her and she has left her apartment. I would like to offer a reward for anyone who turns the shooter in.”

The victim, Cara Nicole Castellana, posted a message on her Facebook page Saturday evening after the incident had occurred.

“Earlier today I was cooking and listening to music when all of a sudden, I hear a really loud pop,” she said. “I went in my living room and turned down my music to see what happened. I saw glass and debris on the floor and looked up and saw a hole in my window… Someone shot a bullet into my apartment.”

According to her Facebook post, Sanchez is offering a $1000 reward for anyone who turns in the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call CRIMELINE.
