A committee on the Board of Governors rejected a request from UCF to raise the credit hour fee by $2.

The fee would raise the current credit hour fee from $6.79 per credit hour to $8.79 per credit hour. The increase would help UCF pay for the library renovation as well as other various projects around the university.

The committee’s vote to raise the current credit hour fee comes amid Rick Scott’s fight to keep tuition low. Recently he started an online petition to keep tuition at bay, vetoed a 3% Florida-wide tuition raise, and sent a letter to the Board of Governors urging them to remain vigilant on increases.

UCF was one of four universities to make the request to raise the credit hour fee. Although separate from the credit hour fee raise, when KnightNews.com asked SGA President Melissa Westbrook if she would vote in favor of a tuition raise, she said “no”.
