Photos posted online of Gator fans’ rape-themed shirts are drawing ire from students and from the school’s own news publication.

One picture, first seen on TotalFratMove.com, shows a man, believed to be a University of Florida student, tailgating at The Swamp before Saturday’s rivarly game against the Florida State Seminoles.

UF’s student newspaper, The Independent Alligator, published an editorial condemning the behavior and issued an apology to the victim and her family, saying the behavior was a “disgusting display of ignorance.”

“For a university that’s supposed to be a hotbed for forward thinking, the actions of UF fans on Saturday represented one giant step backward,” the editorial stated.
