Do not let the name fool you as Theatre UCF presents The Understudy, “an exploration of the existential vagaries (and comedy) of show business and life,” according to Theatre UCF’s website.

Directed by Mark Brotherton, this Kafkaesque play within a play by Theresa Rebeck invites us all to question our one true role in this world. “Is it what we choose or what is chosen for us? Do we have a real identity created by ourselves, or is one put upon us by some unknown, unseen, omnipresent force,” he asks.

Colton Butcher, Helena Whittaker and Terry Farley star as Harry, Roxanne and Jake, all in search of self discovery.

Butcher tells KnightNews.com, “the cast is abundantly talented, as well as the crew and directors.” Audiences “should expect a fun show that has heart and really touching moments.”
