Update:“The man who opened fire at Oregon’s Umpqua Community College on Thursday is dead, Douglas County Sheriff John Hanlin told reporters,” according to CNN.

CNN also reported that four guns were recovered at the scene which law enforcemnt believes were the suspect’s property.

Update: CNN reported that a source with knowledge of the investigation said that “investigators are examining social media postings made by a man, thought to be in his late 20s, who they believe is the suspect in Thursday’s shootings.”

According to CNN’s source, the shooter appears to have had online conversations about his intentions.


A shooter opened fire at Thursday at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon, according to CNN.

“Preliminary information indicates 10 people were killed and more than 20 others injured in a shooting at Oregon’s Umpqua Community College on Thursday, said Oregon State Police spokesman Bill Fugate,” CNN reported.

“Hospital spokeswoman Kathleen Nickel said that six patients were transported to Mercy Medical Center in Roseburg, with four more reportedly on their way. The extent of their injuries was not clear,” according to CNN.

Douglas County Fire Marshal Ray Shoufler told CNN that two patients passed away on the way to the hospital.
