A Veterans Game at noon would bring UCF Football to another shot at becoming bowl eligible.
A 24-3 final score marked a milestone for a team that went 0-12 in the 2015-16 season that was also picked last to finish in the conference at the American Athletic Conference Media Days in Newport, Rhode Island. Scott Frost and team leaned on both the offense and defense to keep momentum and shut down the Bearcats in the Red Zone.
Each player chose a seal of one of the five branches of the military to be placed on the side of their helmet, many with a connection to each one they chose. Frost received his first Gatorade dump as head coach at UCF and brought the team to its seventh bowl-eligible season in the previous ten years.
