To many, it came as no surprise.
Lamar Jackson was awarded the Heisman Trophy Saturday night, an award that the University of Louisville Quarterback had been a front-runner for all year.
The sophomore from South Florida had put up astounding numbers all season, throwing for 3,390 yards and rushing for 1,538 yards with a total of 51 touchdowns.
The 19-year-old recieved 2.144 votes, and becomes the youngest player ever to win the award.
Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson came in second place with 1,524 votes, followed by Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield, Oklahoma running back Dede Westbrook, and Michigan utility player Jabrill Peppers.
Jackson becomes the first player from the University of Louisville to ever win the award, as well as the first winner from the ACC who did not play Quarterback for Florida State.
Lamar Jackson will return to Louisville next year for his junior season.
