Former UCF QB McKenzie Milton tweeted support for former teammate Dillion Gabriel after it was announced he suffered a broken collarbone on the final play against Louisville this past Friday night.

Milton, the former UCF standout quarterback who lost his starting job to Gabriel due to a knee injury at the end of the 2018 season and now current Florida State QB, encouraged his former teammate by tweeting: “Shake back harder than ever young man”.

Gabriel replied to the Tweet saying, “Love you my bro!”.

Milton is no stranger to injuries, as the former UCF QB himself shook back from a nearly three-year absence from the game after suffering a near career-ending injury to his right leg against USF in November of 2018. Despite almost having his leg amputated, Milton returned to the field with Seminoles on September 6, where the former Knight brought the Noles back from an 18-point deficit to lead them to overtime in an eventual loss to the then-ranked No. 9 Norte Dame.

David J. Chao, a former NFL team doctor for over 17 years, tweeted his expected recovery timeline for an injury such as Gabriel’s saying, “6-8 weeks but surgery might be quicker. Depends on break.”

UCF true Freshman QB, Mikey Keene will be under center as the starting quarterback when the Knights go up against Navy on Oct. 2.
