The UCF men’s soccer team battled defensively but fell 1-0 to No. 10 West Virginia on Sunday night at the UCF Soccer Complex. The Mountaineers broke through with the game’s only goal in the 50th minute, despite UCF limiting one of the nation’s top offenses to few clear chances.
Goalkeeper Juanvi Muñoz kept the Knights in contention with four saves, marking his second straight game with at least that many. Offensively, UCF couldn’t find rhythm, finishing with just four total shots and none on target.
West Virginia entered the match as the Sun Belt’s highest-scoring side but was held to a single tally by UCF’s back line.
The Knights will now shift focus to their first conference road match, traveling to Columbia to face South Carolina on Oct. 4. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.
