UCF women’s soccer started their Big 12 conference gameplay with a scoreless tie as they hosted the West Virginia Mountaineers on Thursday night.

The first half was a Knight barrage of attacks, displaying full dominance of the ball. Putting up six shots,  the Knights put up early pressure to the WVU backline, including putting Bailey Herfurth to the test on several occasions.

Amongst the shots taken in the first half, one came from the penalty spot after a handball from Mountaineer defender Roxanne Vilain. A powerful kick by Forward Liz Worden rattled the crossbar before conceding possession of the ball back to West Virginia.

After the half-time break, WVU racked up more aggression and fired more shots, finishing the match with 9 shots, 8 of them being in the 2nd half. Without any luck from both sides, the match ended in a draw.  The Knights closed out the night with 14 shots, and keeper Genesis Perez-Watson racking up her 3rd clean sheet of the season.

The 0-0 draw ties both teams up in the conference table. The Knights look to add a win as they play the Arizona Wildcats on Thursday at 10:00pm at Mulcahy Stadium.
