The Knights lost their annual Space Game to the FIU Panthers in a 1-0 score last Thursday at the UCF Soccer Complex.

The single goal of the game came from FIU’s Junior Forward Montelene Dymond in the eighth minute of the match with a one-on-one following a line-breaking through-pass from Panther Senior Midfielder Noa Olivia Ganthier. With this goal the Panthers head to half-time with the lead.

Following the tight first-half, UCF created some great opportunities led by Senior Forward Liz Worden, but no shot could find the back of the net. Other leading figures like Ainsley Moy, Rajana Reed, and Jada Silvest all closed out the game with 2 shots. Dymond led FIU’s shot count with 3 shots, 2 being on target.

Both keepers did their jobs that night, both UCF’s Genesis Peres Watson and FIU’s Valery Restrepo closed the night with a couple of saves to their repertoire.

This match gives UCF their first loss of the season marking their current record at 5-1-0 whilst FIU sits at 3-1-2.

The Knights will go on the road on Thursday, Sept 11 to face University of North Florida, making it their last non-conference game of the season. UCF will open their Big 12 conference play on Thursday, Sept 18 vs West Virginia at the UCF Soccer Complex.
