George Zimmerman made his first court appearance today at the John E. Polk Correctional Facility, in Seminole County.
Zimmerman, dressed in a gray jumpsuit, stood quietly at the brief hearing in which the judge declared probable cause was evident and the case would ensue.
No bond has been set for Zimmerman. His next court appearance has been scheduled for May 29 at 1:30 p.m.
If convicted, Zimmerman faces a minimum of 25 years in prison or a maximum of life in prison.
If it is found that Zimmerman was acting in self defense, the case could be dismissed completely. Under Florida’s Stand You Ground Law, Zimmerman could request immunity from a judge if it is found he was acting in self defense.
