UPDATE: As of 5:00pm AST – The tropical depression has formed into Tropical Storm Issac with winds of 40mph.

Reports from the National Weather Service project a storm, Tropical Depression Nine, to strengthen into a Tropical Storm later on today and grow into a hurricane by Wednesday.

A five day forecast puts the storm near Cuba and moving towards Florida. While Central Florida is not currently inside the cone, residents should keep a close eye and be prepared in the event of a storm.

The storm currently has sustained winds of 35mph and is moving West at 20mph.

According to the National Weather Service, Tropical storm warnings have been issued from St. Lucia and Martinique up to Anguilla and tropical storm watches have been issued for Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Vieques, Culbera, and the British Virgin Islands.
