UCF baseball started their season off at 2-1 after a three game series against Siena College.
The one win Siena had against UCF on Saturday marks the first time in 7 years and 15 total games that they beat UCF. A bright spot for the Knights is the improved attendance they’ve had for the series, 4,602 fans is the ninth-highest weekend attendance rate in school history.
The Knights have plenty of new faces and breakout players on the roster for this season. Senior Chris Taladay got off to a hot start this season, batting 7-8 in the first two games. Danny Davis, a right-handed pitcher out of Pensacola State College, had a stellar debut for the Knights, going seven innings and only allowing one unearned run in Sunday’s 8-2 decision versus Siena.
Coach Terry Rooney told UCFAthletics.com, “He was in that starting rotation today for a variety of reasons, but because he had dominated the strike zone all preseason. I thought Danny did a fantastic job.”
Coming off of the series win against Siena, the Knights will need all of the momentum they can get. On Tuesday, the No.15 Florida Gators will travel to Orlando to play in the Knights in a winner take all, one-game series.
Fans are urged to purchase tickets ahead of time through UCFAthletics.com, or calling by 407-823-1000. The last time the Florida Gators traveled to Orlando, the single game attendance record was shattered. As always, student seating is on a first come, first serve basis.
