UPDATE: Orlando Police are saying 50 people are now dead and 53 injured from the night club shooting.
The shooter was identified as Omar Saddiqui Maten, a 29-year-old man from Port St. Lucie according to Congressman Alan Grayson.
Orlando Police say he entered Pulse Nightclub in downtown Orlando at around 2 a.m. this morning and opened fire with his hand gun and AR-15 assault riffle and held hostages.
A gunman opened fire a in popular Orlando gay nightclub Pulse in the early hours of Sunday June 12, according to Orlando Police.
Around 20 people are dead and 40 have been transported to local hospitals, Orlando Police announced in a press conference.
The press conference also said that 9 officers entered Pulse to save 30 hostages.
OPD shot and killed the suspect, Chief John Mina said.
“Everyone get out of Pulse and keep running,” the club posted on its Facebook.
The FBI is working with local law enforcement to get to the bottom of what they are calling a “domestic terrorism” incident.
