UCF’s Fifth Presidency:
In September 2018 — when the first discussions of UCF’s misuse of $38 million in state funds intended for operating costs on construction — former UCF Chief Financial Officer Bill Merck offered his resignation and took the fall for the Colbourn Hall controversy.
Former UCF President Dale Whittaker — who served as UCF’s fifth president from July 2018 until he resigned on Feb. 21, 2019 — announced a decision in leadership change he made with former Board of Trustees Chair Marcos Marchena.
“My promise to you is that we will work through these issues together in a transparent and collaborative way,” Whittaker said in his written statement on Sept. 13, 2018. “I appreciate your partnership in ensuring that we always pursue our mission of serving students and our community with integrity.”
