Conference play is on the horizon for both UCF Soccer programs. The men’s team face Jacksonville University on home soil whilst the women’s team faced University of North Florida at Hodges Stadium.
Honoka Hamano and Ainsley Moy were responsible for giving the lady Knights the lad in the 2nd half, with a out-of-box shot and penalty kick respectively. With this win The women’s team are now sitting at a 6-1-0 record, the best since 2002.
Unlike the women’s match, the Men’s went into halftime with a goal on the scoresheet. Jem Hewlett scored a header off a free-kick cross from Clarence Awoudor in the 40th minute. This same combination came to life again in the 70th minute via a corner kick.
Both teams are coming off pre-conference play on good tempo and solid play. The question really is if both teams can keep up this momentum starting next week. The lady Knights face West Virginia Thursday, Sept 18 at 7:00pm at home.
On the other hand, the Men’s team travels to Kentucky to face their 3rd ranked opponent this season. Their test against The University of Kentucky #18 will come Friday Sept 19 at 7:30pm at the Bell Soccer Complex.
