Amazon is currently experiencing a major outage that is affecting a lot of sites. A few gaming apps and sites are down, social media services are unavailable, and Canvas is down for all students who use it.
Amazon is saying that the cause of this problem is due to one of their core product databases having went down. The problems first arose at 3 AM EST. As per Canvas, it is still currently down, but maintenance is being done to bring it up to full functionality. Check out the status here.
UCF has acknowledged this problem, sending out an email essentially communicating to UCF students, faculty, & staff about the ongoing issue. Students told Knight News that some professors have sent out emails to their students that acknowledge the situation, and to let them know that no penalties will be given for assignments due today. It would be wise to contact your professor.
For the time being, all students can do is wait. Canvas, along with the other programs that went down this morning, will hopefully be up in the near future. In fact, some already are. Check back with us with further updates.
