UCF loses their big 12 home opening game against the Kansas Jayhawks. This was the first time Kansas visited UCF in the Bounce House.
UCF started out strong, putting 14 points on the board and holding off the Jayhawks in the first quarter. With some good drives, Kansas was able to score 14 points of their own, and hold the Knights to putting 6, ending the first half 20-14.
When the second half started, Kansas’ defense came in big, forcing quick drives and punts from the Knights. The Jayhawks were able to capitalize on UCF’s quick, scoreless drives by kicking two field goals, tying the game at 20 a piece.
Towards the end of the 3rd quarter, a UCF fumble and Tayven Jackson getting injured shifted the momentum in Kansas’s favor, taking the lead 27-20.
UCF Special Teams caused Kansas’s following drive to start at their own 1 yard line. With some solid defense from the Knights, they gave the ball back to Fancher and UCF’s offense. However, the Knights were held on the 1 yard line, resulting in their second loss of the season.
UCF is now 3-2, Kansas is 4-2, both being deep into Big 12 play. Scott Frost will prepare his team to bounce back against Cincinnati next week.
