UCF Women’s Basketball head coach Stytia Messer announced the team signed three new members to the team Sunday Afternoon.
Tiani Abrams, Anzhane’ Hutton and Bryana Hardy are joining the Knights’ lineup ahead of the 2022-23 season.
“I am excited about the additions to our team,” Coach Messer said. “I believe each player brings a different type of experience, and addition of their experience is what it takes for us to be successful at UCF. I can’t wait to go to work with this group!”
Tiani Abrams
Abrams is a 6-1 guard from Rancho Buena Vista High School in Vista California.
During her time at Rancho Buena Vista, Abrams scored over 1,000 career points and helped her team punch a ticket to the California Interscholastic Federation’s Dill Championship game.
Abrams said she choose signing with the team because of what the University had to offer.
“I chose UCF because I liked what the school had to offer,” Abrams said. “I liked the coaching staff, go along with the girls and just liked the all-around environment of the campus and team.”
Anzhane’ Hutton
Hutton is a 6 foot Junior Forward from Howard University.
Hutton averaged 10.2 points, and 7.2 rounds in her 2021-22 Sophomore season with the team. Hutton was named a First team All-MEAC selection in 2022. Hutton was named the MEAC’s player of the week three times and Defensive player of the week twice during the 2021-222 season with Howard.
Hutton said the head coach Messer was a big deciding factor into signing with the Knights.
“Coach Messer has a winning reputation and has been coaching with a few greats,” Hutton said. “I wanted to be part of a new and winning era all while being in the beautiful tropics of Florida.”
Bryana Hardy
Hardy is a 6-2 Forward from Lovejoy High School in Lovejoy Georgia.
Hardy helped Lovejoy go to the Georgia Class AAAAAA girls basketball state championship in her Senior season. During her time with the team, Hardy has collected a total of 500 career rebounds.
Hardy said she felt comfortable signing with UCF because it felt like home.
“I chose UCF because of the family-based environment, so I’ll always feel like I’m at home,” Hardy said. “There’s a good basketball history there, so I feel like I’ll contribute a lot in the future.”
