The UCF men’s soccer team pulled off a major statement win Friday night, delivering a stunning 3–0 upset over the then-ranked No. 11 Georgia Southern Eagles.
The Knights came out with a palpable intensity and precision, thoroughly dominating the first half and never letting up. The scoring frenzy began in the 6th minute when Lilian Ricol (No. 4) broke through the Georgia Southern defense and buried a shot into the back of the net, instantly setting the aggressive tone. Just minutes later, Claudel N’goubou (No. 9) rose above the defense to deliver a powerful header in the 15th minute, extending UCF’s lead to a shocking 2–0 and electrifying the home crowd.
The Knights weren’t finished yet, as Joey Mueller (No. 6) capitalized on a defensive miscue and fired in UCF’s third goal of the night in the 19th minute, putting the match entirely out of reach before halftime. From there, the Knights’ defense held firm, shutting down every Eagles attack and securing a crucial clean sheet against one of the nation’s top programs.
This decisive victory moves the UCF men’s soccer team’s record to 4-5-1 overall, demonstrating their capacity to compete with the country’s best, and they will look to carry this momentum into their next home matchup.
The Knights will face Bradley on Tuesday, October 14th, at the UCF Soccer Complex, where they will honor their seniors and celebrate Knightro’s Birthday.
