In October, most students look forward to their Halloween costumes and the return of comfortable temperatures in Florida, but year after year, the Greek Life at UCF has built up excitement for Zeta Tau Alpha’s biggest sorority and fraternity philanthropy event of the year, the Zeta Lip Sync.
During October, the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority will hold three events leading up to the lip sync competition:
- October 15th, a ZTA car wash will be held in front of the sorority’s house from 12:00 – 4:00 pm.
- October 20th, any Chipotle order at 4:00 – 8:00 pm, partial proceeds will be donated
- October 22nd, Lip Sync BBQ will be held at Lake Claire from 12:00 – 3:00 pm
- October 27th, the main event will happen at the Addition Financial Arena starting at 6:00 pm
The earliest report of this competition is in 2014, and it has been held annually ever since at the UCF Addition Financial Arena. During the 2014 events, $25,000 was raised for breast cancer awareness and education, $13,000 was raised from the lip-syncing event alone.
As the years have gone by, the donations have only increased. In 2015, around $32,500 was donated. Amazingly, in 2023, the sorority hit record numbers as its lip-syncing event raised $155,110 for breast cancer awareness.
The tickets bought for the BBQ event and the lip-syncing event are $10 each and will be immediately donated.
As of right now, the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority has raised $36,086 with 551 donors. Tickets can be purchased using this link to support the cause of breast cancer awareness and education.
