A group of Cornerstone students won first place in the fall Cornerstone Social Entrepresneurship Progam after raising over $2,000 for cancer.
The Extreme Game Changers raised $2,252 for Kids Beating Cancer — a nonprofit organization dedicated to being a resource for children diagnosed with cancer, leukemia or related life-threatening diseases. Team members Fabiola Pagan, William Colbert, Emily Brouillard, Amanda Rosa, Jeff Horton and Leslie Bonnelly-Castrofort competed against 23 other teams enrolled in the Cornerstone course at the UCF College of Business Administration.
“The Cornerstone Competition taught us how rewarding it is to give back to our community,” said Extreme Game Changers team member William Colbert.
The Cornerstone Social Entrepreneurship Competition asks students to apply skills such as teamwork, project management, communication and ingenuity to build and implement a fundraising plan for their chosen organization. The Extreme Game Changers’ efforts resulted in 75 new hypoallergenic blankets for comfort during chemotherapy sessions.
