Junk Science is a little known rap/hip hop duo hailing from Brooklyn, New York, comprised of an MC by the name of Baje One, and a wicked beat master who calls himself Snafu.

These guys met in high school in the mid 90s, and from there they formed the duo known as Junk Science. They were pretty quiet until around 2003, when they started working on their first album, Feeding Einstein. They gained more recognition after winning a contest for Scion with their track “Roads” (one of my favorites), and they were subsequently signed by DJ Ese, the man responsible for Brooklyn’s own Embedded Records.

From there, Feeding Einstein was released on November 11, 2005 under Embedded Records.

Their second album, Gran’Dad’s Nerve Tonic, dropped on October 23, 2007 and features brilliant songs like the Daedalus remix of “Do It Easy”, and “Jerry McGuire”, a song detailing a list of things to do before you (angrily) quit your job, as well as other songs that show off Baje One’s lyrical gift.

Junk Science also has a handful of singles, namely “Hey! (the sequel)” “Hey!” and Pop Rocks- Maxi. According to their Facebook fan page, they have finished their third full length album and are in the process of looking for a company to release it.

Since they are currently not well known, you probably haven’t heard their music before now. But if you like smooth beats, a good rhythm and masterful lyrics that are both engaging and intelligent, then you may want to have a listen.

They are also a part of the group Nuclear Family (known by the abbreviated Nuk Fam), which is a collaboration of similarly talented artistes with their own unique way with a microphone.

Personal favorites include House Wigger, Speaking (Same Ol’ Same), Glass House, and Roads (linked here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLyYWmyqYdY)
