Dryer Catches Fire at UCF Pi Phi House
News, Safety, UCF Greek Life — By Staff on October 12, 2010 at 12:52 pmKnightNews.com got tips this morning that fire rescue units were at the Pi Beta Phi house.

A UCF spokesman sent us this update this afternoon: “Orange County Fire Rescue responded to the Pi Beta Phi house soon after 10 a.m. this morning after a report of smoke coming from a dryer in the laundry room. All of the residents were evacuated safely, and the fire was quickly extinguished. UCF police and the state fire marshal assisted at the scene. The house could reopen today. If it does not, UCF Housing and Residence Life will assist students who need a place to stay on campus.”
We checked with Orange County Fire Rescue, and they say a dryer caught fire around 10 a.m. No one was reported injured, and firefighters stuck around to make sure the minor fire didn’t spread.
It did cause some attention on Greek Park, however.
KnightNews.com’s Alyssa Metsky snapped the photos of the response.

I just assumed they hazed a little too hard the night before lol
Who decided to be rude?? who raised you?! This is serious and a lot of people could have been hurt. I bet you wouldn’t be joking then jerks. I’m happy all the girls got out ok and the fire dept. was so close!
I saw Battalion 6 cut out in traffic and hurry onto campus, then read the dispatch of a fire at Greek Park. Had class and walked around there at 12:30ish to see E65 leave and the State Fire Marshall still there. Dryer fires tend to be a bit of a common problem (happened at The Edge apartments like 6 months ago). Thanks for covering stories like these.
Just blame it on Charlotte File. She banged me out and didnt call me the next morning.
finally something happens with pi phi that’s worth talking about
I just wanted to make sure the girls had clean towels.
