Since the Orlando Sun Dogs folded in 1997 Orlando has been lacking a professional soccer team but now Orlando City is in its inaugural season making a presence in the soccer world as the newest United Soccer League Professional team.

Orlando City (5-1-1, 16 points) took a close win against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds (1-3-2, 5 points) Saturday night at the Citrus Bowl with the only goal from Kevin Molino in the 3rd minute. This win marks the sixth game in a row the Lions have been undefeated and the third straight win with the previous two on the road.

Even with the Lions leading scorer with 5 goals for the season, Max Griffin, out for personal reasons they showed a tight defense and dominated the ball out shooting Pittsburgh 17-5 in the second half.

The Lions face two away games coming up next against the Rochester Rhinos and the Harrisburg City Islanders. They will be back in Orlando on May 25th against the American Division leaders, Richmond Kickers.

Come out and support your professional soccer team! The Riverhounds game had 5,876 energetic fans despite the wet weather and I am hoping the next game on May 25th against Richmond will be more than 7,000! Watch the video above to see how great the Orlando fans are and I hope to see you at the next game.
