The pledge asked to leave multiple times but the brothers insisted that he stay and party with them. The brothers refused to give the pledge the phone so that he could leave. The pledge stated that all of the brothers were very drunk, according to UCF documents.
The pledge stated that he pushed through the incident in hopes of getting to leave the apartment. He stated that he messed up because he wasn’t supposed to speak and that he messed up again because he couldn’t hold his body up any longer. He eventually told the brothers that he needed to drive others to another located and said “I’m leaving, I’m leaving.” The pledge stated that he was upstairs at the apartment for about an hour and a half, according to UCF documents.
Later that night, another brother called the pledge and told him that if he did not get back to the house immediately that he was going to have his pin pulled. When the pledge arrived, two brothers were waiting for him and asked if he had been drinking or been on drugs since he was not answering the phone. The pledge wanted to share what had happened earlier in the night, but the brother that was with him earlier was there waiting to see if he would share what happened earlier. The pledge later discreetly shared what had happened with another member and shortly after, the president of the fraternity was woken up, according to UCF documents.
The pledge met with the Sigma Chi advisor the next morning to notify him what had happened. The advisor offered him a week off of pledgeship because of the incident. About one week later, there was a new member meeting that was held. At the meeting, the pledge said he was pulled aside by multiple members who said he was going to be removed from the pledge process. He later found out that the chapter’s Judicial Board may have de-badged some members that were involved in the hazing incident, according to UCF documents.
