Head coach Donnie Jones continued his perfect record with the Knights, moving to 2-0 after beating the Jackson State Tigers 80-39.The Knights were in control of the game from the start, ahead by 31 at the half. The Knights started off strong from beyond the arc hitting 5-8 three pointers. They continued their success at the free throw line knocking down 12 of 16, hitting an impressive 75%.

The Knights opened up the second half Just as promising as the first. Sophomore forward David Diakite started things off right with two dunks that electrified the crowd. Junior P.J. Gaynor added tough play to the second half with 9 points, 5 rebounds, and a physical dunk of his own.

Sophomore guard Marcus Jordan had a solid game scoring 13 points, and dishing out 3 assists. He was 5-7 from the free throw line. Sophomore Keith Clanton also played big for the Knights posting a double-double, scoring 12 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

The Knights had big contributions from their bench in the win. Senior forward A.J. Tyler scored 8 points and snagged 3 rebounds. Junior guard Isaac Sosa knocked down three 3-pointers and scored 10 points. Both players helped the Knights outscore the Tigers bench 36-10.

The Knight defense came to play holding Jackson State to shooting under 20% and only allowing 39 points. Shooting was key for the team tonight. They shot 59.6% in the game and scored 80.

Head coach Donnie Jones was excited after the victory. “We played well tonight” Jones said. “It was good to have some of our other guys play some minutes tonight and give some other guys some rest. Let’s enjoy this victory for a few more hours and get ready for South Florida.”

The undefeated Knights host the South Florida Bulls Thursday November 18 at 7:00pm.
