Danny Barrett, a former Canadian Football League head coach and assistant at Buffalo and Bethune Cookman, has been hired to replace George Godsey as UCF’s running backs coach, the school announced Monday.

Godsey left the program last week, opting for a job in the NFL with the New England Patriots.

Barrett is a former head coach of the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the CFL. He is the second coach on the staff that has head coaching experience in the CFL, joining offensive coordinator Charlie Taaffe.

“I am happy to hire a coach of Danny Barrett’s experience and knowledge,” UCF head coach George O’Leary said in a press release. “I look forward to having him on staff here at UCF.”
