One of the University of Central Florida’s biggest financial supporters died of cancer last month at her Winter Park home. Nancy Burnett and her husband, Al, have reportedly given more than $15 million to UCF over their lives.

Nancy Burnett

Several UCF buildings have been named in their honor, and UCF President John C. Hitt spoke about how much he appreciated their philanthropy to whatever UCF considered its top priority projects.

“It’s a kind of philanthropy that’s kind of noble,” Hitt told the Orlando Sentinel. “Nancy was really a wonderful friend who was very unassuming and modest.”

Hitt’s on-campus home and the Burnett College of Biomedical Sciences at Lake Nona’s medical campus are among the buildings bearing the Burnett name. Read the Orlando Sentinel biography for more.
