The University of Central Florida Police Department has confirmed that 21-year-old UCF student Maxine Bartkovich has passed away in a car accident.
Bartkovich was killed in a four-vehicle chain-reaction accident on I-4, Florida Highway Patrol told Local 6.
The accident happened at around 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
“The FHP said Maxine Bartkovich died in the crash after her vehicle was rear-ended by a Ford pickup driven by David Gillett, 44, of Tampa. Charges are pending against Gillett,” according to troopers interviewed by Local 6.
Local 6 reported that the crash propelled Bartkovich’s Toyota Corolla into a Ford truck, which then hit a Honda, according to troopers.
