For the 6th consecutive year, the University of Central Florida has earned an exclusive ticket to compete with the world’s elite computer programming teams.
The 2017 UCF team ranks #1 in the U.S. and #13 in the World out of 13,000 teams that competed regionally.

ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest
The International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) is organized by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), the largest organization in the world for professionals, educators, and students in the field of computation. The contest is structured as a tiered process, with the top teams from regional contests advancing to the World Finals to determine the world champion team.
In recent years, over 46,000 students from 2,900 universities in 103 countries competed in 40+ regional contests with around 120 teams advancing to the World Finals. There are more teams competing from other countries than from the USA. Each team is composed of three students, who must share one computer. The teams get a set of problems (about 10 problems) and they have 5 hours to solve as many problems as they can. Each problem is solved by writing a computer program that works correctly. The team that solves the most problems wins the contest; ties are broken based on time and accuracy.
UCF is in the Southeast USA Region (Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, and Mississippi). There are typically 80 to 110 teams competing in our region.
Since our first contest in 1982, we have always finished in the top 3 in our region. This record is matched by no other school in our region.
