Position Title: News intern

Internship Description: Would be responsible for finding a news item happening either in the UCF or Orlando community, or even a national or international issue, then writing at least a brief news article about it on KnightNews.com 3-5 times per week. This could be based on independent reporting, by researching information from respected news sources and compiling and attributing it, or through a combination of both methods.

Skills and Requirements: Ability to write in AP style. Attention to detail and accuracy. Basic computer skills to be able to post stories and write headlines. Basic graphic skills with Adobe Photoshop encouraged but not required. Uncovering original, unique stories through independent reporting is encouraged but not required. It is an essential requirement to be able to monitor Orlando’s many local news outlets for stories relevant to the KnightNews.com  audience, compile that information through proper attribution or by confirming it on your own, then writing a brief news article for publication on KnightNews.com in a timely fashion.

Opportunities to do video work are available, but not required. The internship would be flexible to allow you to learn other aspects of the changing media world if you’re interested in those skills.
