The UCF Men’s Soccer team earned a hard-fought 3-2 victory over the FAU Owls tonight at the UCF Soccer Complex, successfully advancing in the NCAA Tournament First Round.

In a dramatic, back-and-forth contest, the Knights’ offense proved just strong enough to overcome a determined FAU squad, which was making its program’s first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance.

The victory was a team effort, but the most impactful performances came from key players who have defined their championship season.

Lilian Ricol, the prolific striker who serves as the Knights’ primary scoring threat, was critical in netting one of the decisive goals.

Midfielder Clarence Awoudor anchored the play, driving transition and ensuring possession in the crucial middle third and scoring another of the decisive goals.

Goalkeeper Juanvi Muñoz was essential in the net, making the necessary stops to keep the determined Owls at bay and preserve the one-goal margin.

This win, which comes just days after UCF secured its first Sun Belt Conference Tournament Championship, continues a stellar run of form for the team, which now boasts one of the best records in the nation over its last dozen matches.

With the American Athletic Conference champions eliminated, the Knights will now turn their attention to the NCAA Second Round, where they will face the No. 7 seed Georgetown Hoyas this Sunday, November 23.
